| ... alright, now, before anyone beats the living hell out of me for posting in the wrong section of the forum (and trust me, I feel like I'm posting in the correct section), I've got an idea for a damn good game that could bring a lot of entertainment to people.
Collab Stories.
Basically, two story writers would create two separate chapters, detailing their characters up until the moment they meet, defining their ideals, perceptions, and appearances.
and then the third chapter is where all the magic happens.
The person to post the first chapter writes a paragraph. Then the other does the same. They repeat.
Then the first posts 3 paragraphs. The second posts 3.
Then they alternate paragraphs until the story is finished. Basically, an RP in public for the world to view. I personally think it'd be a pretty cool idea. There are those who might not agree, though. I just wanted to bring the idea up.
There would be rules, of course. For instance, the current writer is in full control, which is not exactly a good thing in RP, but would be good in this instance. However, the writer can't do anything that would be out of character for the particular character they're writing for.
Obviously, grammar would be thrown out the window, in terms of paragraph structure, however, after the story is finished, it could be properly formatted and posted in all it's glory.
And both writers MUST have equal numbers of paragraphs, before the final format, anyway. So the first starts, and the second ends.
So... my question is... what's the consensus?

| I can only see this possibly being successful in either this forum or the stories forum. I think it's a good idea. Actually a great idea, however I don't write stories, so my opinion is meek. _________________

| When I was 14 and 15, I frequented a Final Fantasy forum that did something with a kinda similar concept. We called them storyboards. Essentially one person(typically the 'leader' of the storyboard) would create a world, a setting, and a slight back-story to the setting that can easily lead into a conflict or, you know, plot-building material. Now from this basic setting, people whom sign up create their own personal character(Sometimes multiple characters, but that had a tendency of making things convoluted) and back-story, and set them somewhere in this world. There's also normally a cap for the amount of participants. From there, the position of leader becomes unnecessary save for settling disputes.
The story itself occurs from the participants writing out 'chapters' in posts, following their character(1st or 3rd). And when I say chapters, I don't mean full-length novel chapters, but I also don't mean the one-liners and tiny paragraphs I've seen in the RP forum here(Though admittedly, my looks there have been brief, for that exact same reason). It tends to just be a fully-fleshed out scenario that one's character goes through, or witnesses other's characters going through, presenting their view on it.
Sorry to randomly go all in depth, >.> Just figured it'd be cool to show that similar concepts are there, and they're lots of fun if you enjoy writing, even a little.
tl/dr: Your idea is a great one, and tends to be hella fun |

| I've done things like this on forums and on writing sites, and just with friends on a piece of paper (or several, really). It think it'd be a pretty cool idea, if everyone manages to follow the same story. When everyone takes the story in a completely different way, then things tend to get confusing. _________________ A little cat-girl pixie sprite. |

| | it'll be hard and its one of those things that if done well its excelent but if not well.. you wouldnt notice any way unless some one commented----btw my dt teacher did something like this where he had one thing e.g. an egg and you had to come up with stuff you could associate with it like a holder or bread and everything that asociated with that, ended up fillin the board but it was good even though it was random rubish lol---even if its not done well it still kills time so I would consider it a success |
